Carpin, real name Zdenék Nadymáček, was born in Šumperk in the Czech Republic in 1961. At an early age he started to show a great talent for drawing and painting and at art school was regarded as a great prospect for the future.
After an unsuccessfull aplication to the Academy of Fine Arts he turned his attention and talents in an other direction. Carpin qualified from the Central Collage of Technology and found himself employment as a senior sawman with the Forestry Administration in Moravia. This allowed him to pursue and develop his next passion which was hunting, both game birds and large game animals like Wild Boar and Deer.
Later he started to return to his first love which was art. He began at first with only drawings however this soon developed into painting again this time in colour, using mainly oils.
His first oil paintings were done from his imagination and memories of the time he spent surrounded by the beautiful Moravian forrests and countryside. Later he started to add people, mainly foresters, hunters and poachers who were often portrayed in humerous scenes which complemented the poetic beauty of the scenery in which they were set.
As he has progressed as an artist he has also included in his work a number of life studies, mainly female nudes and become an expert at engraving hunting scenes onto antler with his own unmistakable style in colour.
He remains proudly faithful of his own unique style and even dables in some abstract work where this style shines through. His work blends a poetic and provocative style which combined with a gentle touch masterfully brings his paintings a harmonious feel.
